I became a Political Science teacher the year I watched a school election decided by chocolate bribery. Somewhere between the laughter and the landslide, I realised: children learn politics anyway — the only question is whether anyone teaches them well.

Fourteen years later, my classroom runs like a small republic. We legislate class rules by majority with judicial review (me, occasionally overruled). We hold zero-hour debates on real news. My Class 12s read Kesavananda Bharati in plain English before they read the NCERT gloss on it. The result: board averages above 90, yes — but also alumni who vote, contest, argue in court, and one who clerked at the Supreme Court.
