I teach one subject. It just happens to be everything.

15 years teaching middle- and high-school science — physics, chemistry and biology taught not as three silos but as one habit of asking 'how do we know?' Demos first, connections always, and never a fact without the question it answers.

01 · The question

One curiosity, refracted into every science.

I was the kid with too many questions for one subject — why the kettle sang, why iron rusted, why the cut apple browned. School kept handing them to different teachers in different rooms, as if the world came in neat labelled boxes. It doesn't. So I became the science teacher who keeps the boxes open.

Fifteen years on, I teach across physics, chemistry and biology, and I teach the seams between them hardest of all — because that's where the real understanding lives, and where curious kids get lost when nobody joins the dots. Wonder first, one clear question, then the whole spectrum of science that answers it.

If your school wants science taught as one connected way of thinking, not three disconnected syllabi, I'd love to talk.

One beam, seven colours

Middle-school science is not three subjects in a trench-coat — it's one way of asking questions. Here's the full band I teach.

Physics

Gr 6–10 & foundation

Forces, energy, light, electricity and the sky — taught with two-rupee demos and a lot of 'predict before we measure'.

MechanicsLight & soundElectricityMeasurement

Chemistry

Gr 6–10 & foundation

Reactions, materials and the mole — mechanism and safe microscale demos before any equation gets balanced.

MechanicsLight & soundElectricityMeasurement

Biology

Gr 6–10 & foundation

Cells, bodies and ecosystems — specimens and living systems first, labels and diagrams second.

MechanicsLight & soundElectricityMeasurement

Practical & inquiry lab

All grades

Building the low-cost inquiry-lab program — the demo-cart, the fair projects, the 'how do we know?' habit.

MechanicsLight & soundElectricityMeasurement

Olympiad & science fair

Coaching

Coaching NSE-junior, NTSE science and state science-fair teams across all three disciplines.

Signature

Cross-cutting scientific reasoning — estimation, evidence, and the joy of not-yet-knowing.

03 · The method

A question in, a spectrum out

Good science teaching is a prism. A student walks in with one white-light question — 'why is the sky blue?', 'why does bread rise?' — and a good class refracts it into the physics, the chemistry and the biology hiding inside. My job isn't to teach three subjects; it's to keep the beam whole so they never stop seeing the connections.

  1. Start with one everyday question — the whiter and simpler, the better.
  2. Refract it: which physics, chemistry, biology are hiding in here?
  3. Investigate hands-on — the demo, the measurement, the specimen.
  4. Recombine. If they can explain it back across the sciences, they own it.

Fifteen years, plotted

2016 — PRESENT

Head of Science (Middle School)

Rajagiri Public School, Kochi

Lead an 8-teacher combined-science department; built the integrated inquiry-lab curriculum that joins physics, chemistry and biology. Middle-school science distinctions rose from 40% to 78%, with fourteen fair and olympiad wins.

2012 — 2016

Senior Science Faculty

Choice School, Kochi

Taught combined science Gr 6–10; started the school science-fair program and the shared demo-cart now used across three subjects.

2009 — 2012

Science Teacher

Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Kochi

Gr 6–9 general science; turned 'science is memorising' students into a cohort with the school's best practical and project scores.

He showed us that the rusting nail, the browning apple and the burning candle were the same story. Science finally clicked.
