A living language, taught like one.

16 years teaching Sanskrit — and quietly proving it isn't a dead language on a syllabus but a precise, beautiful, still-speakable one. I take students from ślokas they memorise without meaning to sentences they build themselves, and from board-exam fear to genuine delight in the grammar's elegance.

A living language, taught like one

I came to Sanskrit through my grandfather's evening recitations, long before I understood a word — the sound reached me first, which is exactly how I now teach it. A master's in Vyākaraṇa later, I've spent sixteen years turning 'why do we even study this' into some of the highest board results in my schools.

The trick is refusing to teach it as a relic. Sanskrit's grammar is astonishingly systematic — arguably the most rigorously described language in history — and children who are shown that machinery, rather than asked to memorise verses cold, start to enjoy it. I've mentored seven board toppers and, more quietly, changed a lot of minds about a subject they'd written off.

If your school wants a Sanskrit teacher who gets results without draining the beauty out of the language — comfortable across CBSE, ICSE and state boards, and able to run a chanting session or a grammar drill with equal ease — my references and results are ready.

Not a dead language — a precise one

Students arrive believing Sanskrit is a museum piece to be endured for marks. That's a failure of teaching, not of the language. Sanskrit is the most precisely engineered language a child will ever meet — I teach it as a living system of rules you can play with, not a graveyard of verses to memorise. Get the grammar into their hands and the delight follows on its own.

  1. SoundWe begin with the varṇamālā and correct pronunciation — the language is built on sound, and the ear must come first.
  2. StructureVibhakti, dhātu, sandhi — the grammar taught as a logical machine the student operates, not a list to cram.
  3. ReadFrom simple subhāṣitas to kāvya, we read real texts early, so grammar always has meaning attached.
  4. ComposeThen students build their own sentences and ślokas. Nothing kills the 'dead language' myth faster than writing in it.

What they say

From the class · 01

My son dreaded Sanskrit and scored 97 in the board. She made a subject he'd written off into one he actually talks about.

She teaches grammar like it's a puzzle to enjoy, not a punishment to endure. Our Sanskrit results have never been stronger.

I chose Sanskrit honours at university because of the way she taught it. She showed me the language was alive.
