14 years coaching field hockey — from schoolgirls picking up a stick to state and national-camp players. Fit teams, sharp corners, and a dressing room that believes.

Structure creates freedom on the turf

I played centre-half for my state and made a national camp before injury turned me toward coaching earlier than I'd planned — and the reading of the game that made me a decent player made me a far better coach.

I've built girls' hockey programmes from a handful of curious students to state-title squads, sent six players into national camps, and coached penalty-corner routines that decided finals.

If your club, school or academy wants a coach who develops complete players — technically sound, tactically sharp, genuinely fit, and mentally tough — my playing record and coaching results are ready.

03 · The system

Win the space, not just the ball

Hockey looks like chaos to a beginner and like a pattern to a coach. Structure isn't a cage; it's the thing that frees a player to take the brave option because they trust the ten around them. Drill the shape until it's instinct, then let them play.

  1. SkillsStick work first — trapping, leading, hitting, the drag flick. No system survives a player who can't receive under pressure.
  2. ShapeThen structure: positions, pressing triggers, and covering. We drill the movements until the shape holds without thinking.
  3. Set piecesPenalty corners win hockey matches. We rehearse routines — injector, stopper, striker — until they're clockwork.
  4. CompeteMatch play with a plan and the fitness to hold it for four quarters. Nerves trained, roles clear, bench believing.

The corner that wins

Penalty corners decide tight matches. The injector-stopper-striker routine I drill until it's clockwork, broken down step by step.

What they say

From the squad · 01

My daughter couldn't trap a ball three years ago; she captains the district side now. Manpreet builds players and belief in equal measure.

Her teams are the fittest and best-organised we face. You can see the structure — and the players clearly trust it.

I made the national camp on a drag flick she rebuilt from scratch. She saw exactly what my technique was missing.
